Frequently Asked Questions

Can lawyers ethically call former clients or contacts in the jail?

RPC 7.3(a)(2) makes an exception to allow DUI and Criminal Defense Lawyers to contact former clients.

Because of the “prior professional relationship.” Comment 5 to that rule explains, “there is far less likelihood that a lawyer would engage in abusive practices against a former client, or a person with whom the lawyer has close personal or family relationship, or in situations in which the lawyer is motivated by considerations other than the lawyer’s pecuniary gain.”

How do I verify the contact is the same person?

First Alert Legal is trained to spot middle names and verify they match your contact. If no middle name exists, then we recommend that you go to the booking record and verify date of birth or contact the jail directly.

Does First Alert Legal share these leads with anyone else?

As a First Alert Legal user, your leads will only be shared with your firm. After all, they are your contacts and only your firm is ethically allowed to contact them. There’s no competition because the lead is based on your relationship with the client. A relationship that may not have started as a DUI or criminal case, and the client may not think of your firm for felony defense if they’ve only used you for a DUI, or for a DUI if they’ve only used you for a traffic infraction.

How many contacts do I need for First Alert Legal to work effectively?

First Alert Legal can search and match unlimited contacts, but we recommend at least 100 contacts to experience best results. Those can be all the contacts in your phone, your email accounts or your practice management solution.

What if I don’t get any leads that convert to new business in the first 90
Days?

For a limited time, First Alert Legal is offering a money back guarantee if your firm does not experience $10,000 in revenue from leads delivered within the first 90 days. We don’t want your money if we can’t produce real results for you.
